  中国木偶戏历史悠久,源于汉,兴于唐,千年来衍化出提线木偶、布袋木偶、杖头木偶、铁枝木偶和皮影戏等种类,在闽南地区尤其兴盛。
  Chinese puppetry has a long history, originating in Han dynasty and well developed in Tang dynasty. Over thousands of years, there have been varieties of puppets including marionette, sock puppet, stick puppet, iron wire puppet and shadow play. They are quite popular especially in the places of south Fujian.
  我从小学习木偶戏,20年来先后跟随布袋木偶、提线木偶、杖头木偶三位国家级大师深造,其中付出的艰辛和收获的喜悦,只有这一个个“木头尪仔”清楚。
  I have been learning puppetry art since childhood and during 20 years, I learnt from three national-level masters: they are sock puppet, marionette and stick puppet. The pain I paid and the gain I got are beyond words and only those puppets understand it.
  布袋木偶,食指控制头部,中指、拇指操纵双手,微妙之间,最难掌控,我一学就是六年。
  Sock puppetry uses index finger to control puppet’s head and middle finger and thumb to control puppet’s hands It’s very difficult to have a good and subtle control. It took me six years to learn it. 
  杖头木偶,以木杖操纵木偶的动作,表演者要有很好的臂力和协调力,方能使木偶动作灵活、栩栩如生。
  Stick puppetry uses sticks to move puppet and it requires the player to have strong arm and good coordination so as to make the puppet move flexibly and vividly.
  提线木偶,古称“悬丝傀儡”,以提线操纵木偶身体各部位,表演者最多可控制30多条线,细腻传神、妙趣横生。
  Marionette was anciently known as string hanging puppet as they are suspended and controlled by a number of strings .The player is able to control over 30 strings at most to show a magic and interesting puppet performance. 
  怎么让木偶活起来,偶具的面部表情是不会变化的,因此木偶的生命源于动作,一切靠肢体语言进行表达。
  How to make puppets lifelike as they don’t have facial expression?
  Puppets’ lifelike vitality and expression all depend on their movement controlled by player.
  这些年,我致力于让不同品类的木偶戏出现在同一个舞台上的创新,我们创作的《木偶大观园》包含了提线木偶、布袋木偶、杖头木偶、铁枝木偶和皮影戏,各种木偶戏艺术同台演绎。
  Over these years, I devoted to making creative comprehensive puppetry on a stage, including varieties of puppets. The Grand Puppet Show we made includes different puppets on the same stage such as marionette, sock puppet, stick puppet, iron wire puppet and shadow play.
  我们也将木偶戏融入到大型舞台剧《海丝情韵》中,在闽南人随着海上丝绸之路过台湾、下南洋的迁徙流变中,闽南木偶戏也随之向海丝沿线的华人聚居地流播,成为一种家国的牵系和乡愁的记忆。
  We also blended puppetry into the Silk Road, the grand stage play. It tells that on the way to southeast of Asia through silk road, passing by Taiwan, people of south Fujian brought puppetry to Chinese people along the way, making it widespread and eventually the puppetry became the mood and nostalgia that connected them with their homeland.
  木头尪仔,我生命中最亲密的伙伴,你有一副好看的皮囊,你也有一个深邃的灵魂。
  Puppet, you are the most intimate company to my life and you have a good looking and deep soul as well.
